November 21st: Work on the Caladium roofs began with the following steps:
1. Removal of the Sola Hot water panels
2. Removal and scraping of the shingles
3. Ensuring that the roof is free of rotten plywood and replaced when necessary
4. Thoroughly cleaning the surface
5. Application of the vapor barrier
6. Installation of the Galvalume steel
7. Reinstallation of the hot water panels
The roof repair and replacement project is ahead of schedule, the Caladium roof is complete after less than a week of labour. Work on the Croton roof is starting immediately.
November 21st, 2011: Work on the Marina pool begins with the following steps:
1. Secure the work area at the Marina pool for the security and safety of our member and guests
2. Removal of all tiles in the surrounding area
3. Jackhammer the cement which is roughly 3 inches in depth
4. Removal of broken membrane
5. Clean the area of debris
6. Installation of new membrane
7. Pouring of new concrete
8. Coating of epoxy sealer
The leaks that were occurring in the restaurant below the Marina pool due to the broken membrane have now been fixed.

For starters, you’ll observe a fresh new coat of paint for the entire resort exterior and new metal roofing on all buildings except for the Villas (formerly Pelican Marina Residences). We’ll also be procuring new amenities for guest rooms, including dishes, glasses, flatware, cooking sets, small appliances, linens, towels and more.

Introducing the new “3 Palms” on The Rocks Beach Bar & Grill
SIMPSON BAY (Aug. 17, 2011) — Phil and Patty Lennox, owners of 3 Palm Restaurant, are pleased to announce the reopening of the bar venues at Simpson Bay Resort & Marina, including a newly revamped Beach Bar which will now be called “3 Palms” on The Rocks Beach Bar & Grill. Guests will notice a fresh new vibrant coat of paint as well as new inventive menu items appearing over the course of the next months along with tons of scheduled entertainment and drink specials – including $2 beers!
The new “3 Palms” features increased seating capacity, shaded tables and Reggae vibes throughout, invoking a sense of “I am in the Caribbean – man!”
Patrons will be pleased to recognize all their favorite bartenders who are still there under the new management. The Lobby Bar will now be opening earlier at 7:00 am and will be offering a full range of franchise-style coffees and fresh pastries for guests’ morning wake up call.
The new operators look forward playing an integral role in guests’ enjoyment of their vacations whether it be a relaxing poolside afternoon sipping cocktails, sumptuous Caribbean fare in a culturally infused open-air environment or the thrilling excitement of the newest addition to Simpson Bay’s nightlife. We are very excited to announce that the much needed replacement of the roof on the Allamanda Building has started. This is only the beginning of the complete Renovation Plan we have initiated at Simpson Bay Resort.
We are hard at work finalizing the plans that will ensure much needed improvements and renovations in building exteriors, interiors, furniture, fixtures and equipment in all the original buildings at Simpson Bay Resort.
Our goal is to provide all our members with the best vacation value and experience possible and please know that we will work tirelessly to reach and maintain this goal.

Piano bar entertainer Libbie Schrader is performing in St. Maarten July 1-31 at The Red Piano, located at the Simpson Bay Resort & Casino.
Raised in Oregon and now based in Brooklyn, NY, Libbie Schrader is a singer/songwriter with a passionate alt-pop/rock style. While Libbie delivers a complete repertoire of cover tunes while performing in piano bars, she also excels as a performer of her own material.
Libbie was the first winner of the Pantene Pro-Voice competition, beating out over 1,200 other female-fronted acts when she opened for Jewel at SummerStage in New York’s Central Park. Prizes included a nationwide club tour at venues including the House of Blues in New Orleans and the Roxy in Los Angeles, as well as a demo deal with Atlantic Records. Schrader’s band also took part in Jewel’s “Soul City Cafe” program for independent artists, where she opened three shows on Jewel’s “This Way” tour. Libbie appeared on the Gilmore Girls season finale performing her song “Sweet When You Wanna Be.”
Libbie’s songs are featured regularly in a wide variety of MTV shows, including “The Hills,” “True Life,” and “Parental Control,” to name a few. Her song “Come When I Call” is featured in the July, 2011 season premiere of the Style network show “Giuliana and Bill.” She also just raised over $26,000 through her fan base for her latest full-length record, entitled “Magdalene,” and she will be doing a U.S. tour to promote the record in August 2011.
